Industry associations are important for all salespeople for two reasons:
They are one of the first places you should go when researching a new prospect or industry. Industry association websites often have information about their members and the industry as a whole that would take you hours to find elsewhere.
Joining an association that caters to your industry will give you educational and networking opportunities not found elsewhere. Or, better yet, joining an association of one of your primary prospect’s industry will allow you to learn their needs, wants, and issues, while allowing you to network with additional prospects.
A very real problem with industry associations are that there are thousands of them--at least one for every industry--and often dozens for any given industry. They can also be difficult to find. Consequently, we’ve listed hundreds of associations below with links to their sites.
